  • Used census data for Pierce County and extracted child data to find the number of children aged 10 and under in each block group.

  • The child/blockgroup layer was run through a raster IDW calculator to predict average children density throughout Pierce County

  • Pollution data was used to find the concentrations of lead and arsenic in soil around Pierce County.

  • Each layer (arsenic and lead) was run though a raster Kringing analysis to predict the mean levels of arsenic and lead in soil around Pierce County based on the locations of collected samples.

  • Finally, the three calculated rasters were layered and added together using a raster calculator. The resultant raster indicates areas with low density of all three (minimal lead, arsenic and child density) to high density (max collected levels of lead, arsenic and child density).
